For the normally reticent American Champion Stuart Ransom, I know this post will make him a little uneasy. But, HE’s ON FACEBOOK!
In spite of his huge accomplishments it the trampoline sports, his complete and total lack of fear plus an antic or two, he has always been reserved and humble making him one of the most popular athletes around. Once he retired from competition in the 80′s, he quietly began a new life for himself. People ask about him constantly. So, we’re happy to say, ”Hello, Friend!”
World DMT Champion in 1978 and World Synchcro Champion with Mark Calderon in 1982, Stuart was inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame four years ago. A couple of articles about his induction are linked below. Reading the articles, however, I don’t see my favorite of his achievements. He is the first athlete to perform a 1.5 twisting triple of any kind in an international competition. He used it – I believe it was a front-full-half pike and/or puck – in his final routine at the World Trampoline Championships in Switzerland in 1982. He was a go-for-it kind of guy and that was proof.
