For its 25th edition of the Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Group Competitions starts this week. As in 2013, the young and next generation future stars of Trampoline, Double Mini-Tramp and Tumbling will be in Sofia’s Arena Armeec, for four days from November 16-19, 2017.
Here’s what you need to know about the highlight event:
Focus on this countries:
Great fight between Russia, Japan and Belarus in Individual Trampoline. Competition is already expected to be tight in Tumbling between England, Russia and the United States. On the Double Mini-tramp, Russia, United States and Portugal on the top.
New in scoring rule:
In this new Olympic cycle in Trampoline, a supplementary criteria will be taken into account in scoring: Horizontal displacement. The trampoline bed is squared off in different sections around its center. If the gymnast’s body touches a zone outside the designed center of the bed, a deduction corresponding to the particular zone will be applied. The total of these deductions will be subtracted from the maximum score of 10 (for a complete exercise), forming the Horizontal Displacement score.
This score is added to the scores for Difficulty, Execution and Time of Flight (the amount of time the gymnast spends in the air) to calculate the gymnast’s final score in Individual Trampoline. In Synchronised Trampoline, it is combined with the scores for Difficulty, Execution and Synchronisation.
