The 2013 World Games will be held in Cali, Colombia this summer. Competition in Synchronized Trampoline, DMT and Tumbling are scheduled for July 29-31. Individual Trampoline is not an event at the World Games because it is an Olympic event. According to Wikipedia:
The World Games, first held in 1981, are an international multi-sport event, meant for sports, or disciplines or events within a sport, that are not contested in the Olympic Games.
This gives the other events and sports a deserved moment in the spotlight. There are some very cool sports scheduled to compete. I look forward to seeing the competitors at their best on this amazing multi-sport stage this summer in Cali.
I do have a question, though. If all these sports are non-Olympic sports, why is Rhythmic Gymnastics in the World Games? I love Rhythmic, but it has been an Olympic sport since 1984. My guess is that the Rhythmic events in the World Games are different from those in the Olympics, like in the case of Trampoline & Tumbling. However, I can’t find any confirmation of that.
I’m curious. That’s all.
